New Delhi: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has said that people travelling together in private cars without face masks in the capital won't be fined anymore from Monday onwards.
The decision was taken on Saturday after a meeting to review COVID curbs.
Apart from this, people caught not wearing face masks in public will be asked to pay a fine of Rs 500 instead of Rs 2,000, authorities said.
Meanwhile, other COVID-19 curbs such as night curfew, restrictions on standing passengers in public transport, and 50 per cent seating capacity in restaurants and bars will be removed from Monday, the DDMA said in an order.
''The authority has decided that although face coverings will remain mandatory in public places, people travelling together in private four-wheelers will not be asked to mandatorily wear masks,'' the Delhi health department said in its order.
These decisions have been taken keeping of Delhi's pandemic situation which has improved with just 440 cases reported on Saturday. The infection positivity rate has dropped to 0.83%.
However, the relaxation does not extend to taxis and mass transit as according to reports, even if a family travels together in a commercial four-wheeler, they will need to wear masks.
